What's behind those advent windows then?

Hello again folkks, it's your total Christmas nutty friend Jen here.
This topic was enormously popular on my favourite BBC radio show in the run-up to Christmas last year. Basically, every single listener to the show, inculding myself, rang, texted or emailed to share the contents of all the little doors/windows or even, in the drawers of their advent caleendars. Mum found a most unusual advent calendar for me this year. It's almost a 3-D Christmas tree with 24 of these little pull-out boxes/drawers. In drawer number 1 for me, there is (or rather was, ho ho ho) a chocolate truffly thing.

So, you know the score now, from now till Christmas morning, I will be posting and asking what everyone got in their advent calendars if they wish to share them with us, lollol.

Jen.

O shit! Well, both Haarmony and Joanne then. As for an answer to your question Joanne, well, almost anywhere should sell advent calendars in the run-up to Christmas. I'm not very familiar with your various highstreet shops in the US, so I wouldn't be able to tell you where exactly, but here in Britain, we can get them in the supermarket, from various card and gift shops, from W.H. Smith, anywhere like that really, and Harmony, get yourself on the next shopping trip and get that chocky calendar, or I'll personally, get you one myself. Christmas simply isn't Christmas till you have an Advent calendar.

since the days are not in order I either have to label them or just randomly pick one each day.

Yeah, that's what I did each year. Well, behind window number 2, there's another caramel cream thing.

instead of an advent calendar with the chocolates, i purchased a story book collection thing. it has a mini book for each day that is an ornament that you hang on the tree. so each night before bed, the kids and i read the day's book and then they get to take turns hanging them on the tree. i like this better because it is a reminder to them and myself as to what christmas is all about for us. each book tells a short part of the christmas story.
i've also made up an advent calendar for the kids and i that has a good deed for each day. while the little chocolates are fun, this is also fun and is teaching the kids and even myself.
